We have an immediate opening for a full time receptionist and office assistant.  Focusing on aspects of small business development, real estate, estate planning, and support services to the firm's criminal defense lawyer, Swenseth Law is looking to hire a motivated and dedicated individual.

 
 
ABOUT THE POSITION:
 
Devils Lake law firm seeks a detail-oriented, organized, and self-directed person who can take on a combined role of receptionist and office assistant to work full time from our office in downtown Devils Lake.  Personal and professional discretion is a must. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential.  Part of your job will be to function as the “hub” of our busy office and pitch-in to lend a hand when needed. “Not my job” should not be part of your vocabulary. You will be required to think ahead, paving the way for others to be as productive as possible. Caring about the firm’s relationship with its clients is both good business and second nature for the person we’re looking for, as you will be a regular point of contact with our clients.The successful candidate will be able to work hard, maintain a positive attitude, make well thought out suggestions and follow agreed upon policies and procedures The desired candidate should have the flexibility and willingness to grow and adapt with the position, knowing that every day brings with it a new adventure and challenges at our busy office.
 
The preferred candidate should demonstrate good judgment and the ability to prioritize activities with minimal supervision to meet deadlines, including the punctual and accurate billing of clients for services. The candidate is expected to coordinate with fellow team members to complete a job. Experience with Clio, Adobe Acrobat, Quickbooks, and all features of the Microsoft Office 365 Suite is a plus. Part of the job description also requires applicants to be patient with our growing pains. This can be the best job someone has ever had or the most frustrating depending on his or her flexibility, team spirit, commitment to our mission, and realistic expectations about what it’s like to work in a growing firm. This is a full-time position with flexibility and freedom earned by figuring out how to get things completed efficiently.  If you need to run to an appointment, take care of some personal business or even go out of town on short notice -- no problem! As long as you take responsibility for getting things done.

Duties & Responsibilities
Prioritize client related matters
Maintain office schedules, greet clients, and answer the telephone
Produce, proof, file, and maintain correspondence, legal documents, and other related forms
Track, capture, and record billable time for all employees
Follow-up on pending transactions and legal matters
Maintain and organize filing system
Be sure whatever the attorneys are looking for on a case or matter is always filed and easily found Deliver, pick up, receive, and organize documents, mail, equipment, or material
Keep attorney apprised and prepared for upcoming obligations
Receive payments, take deposits to the bank, and work with our accountant on all financial matters
Follow policy and procedure
Perform related work as assigned  
This job does not exercise supervisory responsibilities.

Strong communication skills, written and verbal
Proficiency in all areas of Office 365
Familiar with ND Rules of Professional Conduct
Above average ability to learn and adapt as our business grows and takes on new dimensions Experience in Office 365 and online legal research tools 
United States work authorization

Compensation
$10-$15/hour DOE
